Sporting challenges in a unique natural setting

Over recent years, Menorca has been gaining prestige as an ideal destination for outdoor sporting activities. This February will see the start of an event calendar that will be packed with spectacular competitions that will all take place in the beautiful natural landscapes of the island and will certainly attract a great number of local and visiting athletes who hope to enjoy the unique experiences of the Trail des Fars, (the Lighthouse Trail) the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls (the Horse track Trail) or the Half Menorca Triathlon; three amazing events that are part of a diverse sporting event calendar that will be taking place around the island throughout the year for any and every type of participant.

The Cap de Cavalleria headland, in the north of Menorca, is the starting point of the 4th edition of the Trail des Fars that will be run this upcoming 19th of February. This lighthouse, with its 160 years of history, stands tall upon an impressive cliff and will see participants off on the 44-kilometer journey full of amazing contrasts until the finish line, in the town of Ciutadella. Crossing asphalt, dirt and sand, it follows the Menorcan coastline along the historic Camí de Cavalls trail and passes through unspoiled beaches like Cavalleria, Pregonda and La Vall; as well as along inland rural trails of undeniable environmental value. This event is a true challenge, but also an opportunity to discover the island's natural beauty in a truly intense manner.

In spring, Menorca will be hosting a second challenge, perhaps even more thrilling: the legendary Trail Camí de Cavalls, in which the most fearless participants will cover as many as 185 kilometers which, beyond a doubt, make up one of the most difficult events on the European trail running circuit. This year's dates are from the 19th to the 21st of May, with a series of 5 trail and trekking adventures, none of which are suitable for beginners. And on the 27th of September, focus shall turn to the Port of Fornells and the Half Menorca Triathlon.
